Brick sealing & weatherproofing

Breathable, vapour-permeable sealants that protect your brickwork from water ingress, frost damage and airborne pollutants — without trapping moisture or altering appearance.

Brick sealing & weatherproofing

Water ingress through brickwork is one of the most common causes of damage to period properties — leading to damp, frost damage, efflorescence and accelerated mortar deterioration. A properly applied breathable sealant can dramatically reduce water absorption while allowing the brickwork to breathe naturally.

Unlike non-breathable sealants and masonry paints — which trap moisture and cause serious long-term damage — the breathable silane and siloxane-based treatments we use are fully compatible with lime mortar and historic brickwork. They are invisible in application, preserve the natural appearance of the brick, and provide long-lasting protection.

Frequently asked questions

Breathable brick sealants are silane or siloxane-based treatments that penetrate the surface of the brick, making it highly water-repellent whilst remaining permeable to water vapour. Moisture can still escape from the wall, preventing damp and damage.
No — breathable sealants are invisible in application. They do not alter the colour or texture of the brickwork. Avoid any product described as a masonry paint or surface coating.
High-quality breathable treatments typically last 10 to 20 years depending on exposure and brick type. We assess your property during our free site survey and recommend the most appropriate treatment.
